Palo Duro Canyon State Park
Canyon, Texas

This 14,000+ acre park was carved by a branch of the Red River and is the second largest canyon in the nation.

Hiking, horseback riding (including many guided rides with cowboy breakfasts), swimming, and camping are available.

The park is also home to an amphitheater where performances of Texas, an outdoor drama about the founding of the region, are performed during summer months.
