This Panhandle community--formerly located on historic Route 66--was founded by an Irishman and today remembers that heritage with an annual St. Patrick's Day celebration. The town is also home to oil and natural gas wells.

Attrractions

Blarney Stone. Another reminder of its Irish roots, the city is home to a piece of the Blarney Stone. Elmore Park.

Pioneer West Museum. Local history exhibits and artifacts of the Plains Indians are on hand here. The museum is housed in a former hotel. 204 N. Madden St.

U-Drop Inn This Art Deco classic has served as a gas station and a cafe; today it houses the Shamrock Chamber of Commerce. The site was the inspiration for drawings in the Cars movie.
