Varner-Hogg-Plantation

Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historical Park

Located on the mouth of the Brazos River, this community is a favorite with those looking for fresh- or salt-water fishing and other water activities such as swimming, surfing, or crabbing.

Attractions

Brazoria County Historical Museum. Located in a historic 1897 courthouse, the museum presents culturally significant artifacts from the past. 100 E. Cedar St.

Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historic Site. This park is built around the 1830s Varner-Hogg Plantation, the former home of Governor James S. Hogg. Guided home tours are available and there’s also a picnic area. 1702 North 13th St.

Festivals

MARCH and NOVEMBER: Market Days. This event is held twice each year at the Brazoria County Fairgrounds and features arts and crafts, music, food and family-friendly entertainment.

OCTOBER: Brazoria County Fair and Rodeo. Held in Angleton, this annual fair includes arts and crafts, plenty of homecooked food, local music, kids’ rides, and more.
