Located on the mouth of the Brazos River, this community is a favorite with those looking for fresh- or salt-water fishing and other water activities such as swimming, surfing, or crabbing.

Attractions

Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historical Park. This park is built around the 1830s Varner-Hogg Plantation, the former home of Governor James S. Hogg. Guided home tours are available and there's also a picnic area. 1702 North 13th St.

Festivals

August: Heart of Angleton Festival. The courthouse lawn is the site of this one-day festival held in late August. Musicians play throughout the day in the gazebo, and there's a car show, a diaper derby, a cow patty bingo, fajita cookoff, carnival, and a 5K run.

October: Brazoria County Fair. Held in Angleton, this annual fair includes arts and crafts, plenty of homecooked food, local music, kids' rides, and more.
