Austin's Airport Art

The Austin-Bergstrom
International Airport works hard to create an introduction to
the atmosphere for which Austin is known, from its music to its
artwork. Youll hear Texas music over the sound system and
see the work of Texas artists in the form of everything from tiles
to sculptures.
Keep an eye out for these artworks:
- Nine oil paintings on canvas by Thomas Evans that
give a birds eye view of Enchanted Rock
- Nine acrylic paintings on canvas by Fidencio Duran
called The Visit, a representation of a family gathering
- A bronze bust of the late Senator Barbara Jordan
by David Deming
- A terrazzo map of the original Waller grid of
Austin from 1839, executed by artist Jerry Ludwig
- Texas Rivers by Rudy Siliva; this terrazzo
map of Texas portrays the rivers after which many Austin streets
were named
- The Creation of Texas by David Santos and
James Perez; this carved limestone and forged metal artwork is
found near the East Plaza Garden
- Texas Mythology/Texas Reality by Jill Bedgood;
these etched mirrors in the baggage claim restrooms and cast metal
medallions are found above the drinking fountains on the concourse
level

created by Judy Jensen and seen on the wallsof the escalators
in baggage claim
- Green Austin Series by Jimmy Jalapeeno;
