Governor's Mansion, Austin
Update: In June 2008, the Texas Governor's Mansion suffered a devastating fire. The building was closed for renovations and furnishings were off site at the time but the building received substantial damage. We'll keep you posted on news from this longtime Austin site as decisions are made as to the future of the building. For over 150 years, Texas governors have enjoyed the opulence of this grand home. Visitors are taken past the main staircase, through the formal parlor, and finally into the dining room. Tours (scheduled every 20 minutes) are conducted Monday through Friday from 10 a.m to noon. Call (512/463-5516) to check the status of tours; the home is sometimes closed because of incoming dignitaries. Located at 1010 Colorado Street just south of the State Capitol. Return to Austin
