Austin's LCRA Parks

The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) owns many parks along Lake Travis and Lake Austin, sites which are managed by Travis County. These parks include some of the most popular spots along the lakes where summer weekends find hundreds of boaters, picnickers, and swimmers seeking admission.

Arkansas Bend Park

Location: From Highway 183, take FM 1431 south 11 miles to Lohmans Crossing Road. Turn left on Lohmans Crossing Road and travel 4 1/2 miles to Sylvester Ford Road. Turn left on Sylvester Ford Road and travel 1-1/2 miles to the park entrance.
Recommended for: campers, anglers, boaters

This is one of the quieter parks along Lake Travis, thanks to its remote location. The park offers camping, picnicking, fishing, and a boat ramp.

Bob Wentz Park at Windy Point

Location: From the intersection of RR 620 and FM 2222, take RR 620 south 1.3 miles to Comanche Trail. Turn right on Comanche Trail and travel 3.1 miles. Park entrance is on left.

Recommended for: scuba divers, windsurfers, sailors Mention Windy Point and Austinites think of windsurfing, sailing, or scuba diving. A top spot on Lake Travis for watersports, this park recently completed a $2.5 renovation of its facilities. It offers a hike and bike trail, sand volleyball courts, and a boat ramp for sailboats.

Del Valle Softball Complex

Location: From TX 71, take FM 973 south 4/10 mile. Complex entrance is on right.

Recommended for: families

Time to take you out to the ball game? Then just head east to this complex of eight fields used by Little League and adult play. The complex includes picnic tables and playground.

Dink Pearson Park

Location: From US 183, take FM 1431 south 11 miles to Lohmans Crossing Road. Turn left on Lohmans Crossing Road and travel 7 miles to Point Venture. Park entrance is on your left.

Recommended for: swimmers

Dink Pearson is one of the smallest parks in the LCRA system, with just 3.6 acres. A popular spot for picnicking, swimming and boating, the park includes an unimproved boat ramp.

Fritz Hughes Park

Location: From the intersection of RR 620 and FM 2222, take RR620 south 3.7 miles to Low Water Crossing Road (just before Mansfield Dam). Turn left on Low Water Crossing Road and travel 0.2 miles to Fritz Hughes Park Road. Turn left to park entrance.

Recommended for: picnickers

Along with Quinlan and Selma Hughes parks, this is one of only three access points along the north side of Lake Austin. The small park is usually frequented by local residents; the park offers picnicking, swimming, and fishing.

Selma Hughes Park

Location: From the intersection of RR 620 and FM 2222, take RR 620 south 2.1 miles to Quinlan Park Road. Turn right on Quinlan Park Road and travel 4.6 miles to Selma Hughes Road. Turn left on Selma Hughes Road and proceed to park entrance.

Recommended for: swimmers

Along with Fritz Hughes and Mary Quinlan parks, Selma Hughes Park is one of the few public access sites along this part of Lake Austin. Here the lake is narrow and quiet, and in the park, visitors are usually local residents. Visitors find picnicking, swimming, and fishing areas.

Tom Hughes Park

Location: From the intersection of RR 620 and FM 2222, take RR 620 south 2.3 miles to Marshall Ford Drive. Turn right on Marshall Ford Drive and travel 0.2 miles to Park Drive. Turn right and travel 2.8 miles to park entrance.

Recommended for: scuba divers, swimmers

Swimmers and scuba divers call this park a favorite. The walk to the water's edge is steep and brushy.

Loop 360 Boat Ramp

Location: From the intersection of Loop 360 and FM 2222, travel south on Loop 360 across the Loop 360 Bridge over Lake Austin. The entrance to the boat ramp is on the east side of Loop 360, directly below the bridge.

Recommended for: boaters

As its name suggests, this park is primarily used by boaters as a launch onto Lake Austin. It is located under the south side of Pennybacker Bridge. You'll also find areas for fishing and picnicking.

Ben E. Fisher Park

Location: From I-35, take Hwy. 183 south approximately 3 miles to Hwy. 290. Take Hwy. 290 east approximately 4 miles and exit at Old Hwy. 20. Turn right onto FM 973, and travel one block to Carrie Manor Road. Travel two blocks to the entrance of Southeast Rural Center. The park is on the north side of the center.

Recommended for: families

This park is used primarily by residents of Manor; facilities include a playscape, basketball court, volleyball court and group shelter.

Mansfield Dam Park

Location: From the intersection of RR 620 and FM 2222, travel south 4.9 miles. Turn right onto Mansfield Dam Road, just south of Mansfield Dam. The park entrance is on left.

Recommended for: boaters

One of the most visited parks along Lake Travis, Mansfield Dam Park is one of the top boat launching sites on the lake. The park also appeals to campers and picnickers; a primitive area is located nearby.

Richard Moya Park

Location: From the intersection of Hwy. 71 and Hwy. 183, take US183 south 2.6 miles to Burleson Road. Turn left on Burleson Road and travel 1.2 miles. The park entrance is on right.

Recommended for: families

Both developed and undeveloped areas of this east side park mean something for everyone. A popular stop for families, the park includes lighted softball fields, group shelters, and two miles of hike and bike trails. Don't miss the historic Austin bridge that crosses Onion Creek.

Pace Bend Park

Location: From the intersection of RR 620 and Hwy. 71, take TX 71 west 11 miles to RR 2322 (Pace Bend Park Road). Turn right on RR 2322 and travel 4.6 miles to park entrance.

Recommended for: swimmers, horseback riders, nature lovers

Pace Bend is one of the top parks, not only of the LCRA sites, but in the entire region. Nine miles of shoreline appeal to swimmers and boaters; horseback riders and hikers also find diversions with a large natural area. Part of the park is managed as a wildlife preserve and can be reached by rugged trails; an excellent destination for wildlife viewing and bird watching.

Mary Quinlan Park

Location: From the intersection of RR 620 and FM 2222, take RR620 south 2.1 miles to Quinlan Park Road. Turn left onto Quinlan Park Road and travel 5.5 miles to park entrance.

Recommended for: boaters

This quiet park has the only public boat ramp for miles along Lake Austin. The spot is a beautiful place to enjoy the quiet of one of Lake Austin's narrow passages and to view the bluffs against the water's emerald depths.

Webberville Park

Location: From the intersection of Hwy. 183 and FM 969, take FM 969 east three miles past the town of Webberville. Turn right onto Webberwood Drive and proceed to the first street on your right, Park Lane. Turn right and proceed to the park entrance.

Recommended for: families

Another family favorite, Webberville Park has plenty of activities to divert bored children: volleyball and basketball courts, playscapes, over two miles of hike and bike trails, and a popular fishing pier. Both canoeists and boaters use the launch.
