Emma Long Metropolitan Park

Location: City Park Road 6.2 miles off FM 2222 in Northwest Austin

The 1,150-acre park is on the shores of Lake Austin, but only about 70 acres are developed. The park has a designated swimming area in the lake, with a large sandy beach. Restrooms, dressing rooms, and showers are provided, and lifeguards are on duty noon to 6 on weekends only, Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Boats are not allowed in the swimming area nor alongside the swimming docks. A city ordinance prohibits swimming beyond 50 feet from the shoreline.

There are two boat ramps, and visitors who have boats but are not staying overnight are restricted to day use of the park. Campers with boats may moor their boats offshore. Park boundaries begin up by Pearce Road, and they include an archery range, a nature trail, and a mountain bike area.

The park also has two sand volleyball courts and three sets of volleyball standards.

Contact the Austin Parks and Recreation Department for complete rules and regulations in using the park.
