Pease Park, Austin

Location: 1100 Kingbury Street in North Austin

Located on Shoal Creek along Lamar Boulevard, Pease was Austin's first city park, dedicated in 1876 by Governor Pease himself.

Pease Park offers a picnic area for large groups as well as a three-mile hike-and-bike trail, swimming pool and wading pool, basketball and volleyball courts, picnic facilities, play equipment, children's playground, and restrooms, and is popular for informal volleyball and softball games. If you need play equipment, it's necessary to reserve. (Check with Austin Parks and Recreation, 200 South Lamar Blvd., 512/499-6700.)
