Poodie’s Hilltop Bar and Grill

Willie Nelson is almost an unofficial symbol of Austin but the musician is all to often on the road again, playing Austin fewer days than he did in his early days. But you occasionally might catch him at Poodie’s Hilltop Bar and Grill, a honky-tonk that's nothing fancy but certainly star studded, at least occasionally. Operated by Randall "Poodie" Locke, Willie Nelson's road manager, the place was created to give the guys a place to hang out when they're not on the road, again.

You might not see Willie during your visit but keep an eye out for other stars; everyone from Billy Bob Thornton to Merle Haggard has popped in at one time or another.

Serving up burgers and Texas food, the roadhouse is really known for its live music, enjoyed almost every night.
