Texas State Cemetery, Austin

Sometimes called the "Arlington Cemetery of Texas," the stately cemetery is the final resting place for many well known Texans. Graves include those of Stephen F. Austin, the father of Texas, as well as several former governors and numerous authors. The cemetery is a short drive east of I-35 but a quiet retreat from the bustling downtown. Along with Republic Hill, the resting place of many famous names, nearby a large Confederate cemetery is the final resting place of over 2200 Confederate soldiers and their spouses.

The site is open during 8-5 daily; the visitors center is open 8-5 on weekdays.

Location: 909 Navasota Street
