Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum, Austin

Take a peaceful walk through this garden featuring the works of Charles Umlauf, former professor emeritus at the University of Texas. The museum contains over 200 culptures of internationally known Umlauf who, along with wife Angeline, gave the City of Austin his home, studio and work to the City of Austin in 1985.

Located near Barton Springs Road, the garden displays about 60 sculptures at a time, and the museum exhibits about an equal number of smaller pieces. A short video provides a look at the sculptor, his philosophy and methodology. Works range from bronze to terra cotta to alabasters.

The setting itself is an attraction as well with six acres of xeriscaped gardens. Streams, a waterfall and ponds visually cool visitors as they stroll beneath tall cedar and oak trees.

Open Wednesday through Sunday.

Location: 605 Robert E. Lee Rd. (South)
