Like nearby Hamilton Pool, this preserve is known for its fern-dotted grotto as well as excellent birding. Guided nature tours are offered on weekends at 10, noon, 2, and 4; the tour size is limited and reservations are not accepted so be sure to arrive early. The preserve is also home to the Warren Skaaren Environmental Learning Center , a visitors center with displays on the natural forces that came together to produce this unique site.

Directions: Travel west on TX 71 to just west of Bee Caves. Turn left (south) on RR 3238 (also known as Hamilton Pool Road.) Travel 14 1/2 miles on Hamilton Pool Road to the Pedernales River; turn at the first gate on your right after crossing the river.
