Bandera Honky Tonks

Other towns might try to gussy up these music venues by calling them clubs, nightclubs or even concerts but Bandera is proud to carry on a Texas tradition and just call them honky tonks.

On Main Street, you'll find two of the best known honky tonks. Arkey Blue’s Silver Dollar is a skinny little club that's easy to miss beside the general store; enter the door and descend down the stairs to the dimly lit club.

With its sawdust-covered floor and large bandstand and long tables, the club is always ready to accommodate plenty of boot scootin'; behind the dance area, you'll find a neon-lit bar and pool table. Look for live country music here Thursday through Saturday.

Further west on Main Street, the Cabaret Dancehall is a larger honky tonk that hosts many large names and ticket-only concerts (as well as a Friday night dude ranch dance.) This dancehall has shook to country sounds for over 70 years; kids are always welcome and children under 12 enter free.
