Raymond's Bar-B-Que, Dallas

Some things in life don't change, like Raymond's Bar-B-Que. Even though Dallas has seen lots of change and high tech progress, Raymond's still does what it does best: turn out tasty barbecue. Since Raymond Erwin started his joint in 1954, this pit has been smoking meats for the folks in east-central Dallas.

The 120-seat dining room is like a poster for the 1950s, dotted with butter colored vinyl booths. Chile ristas hang from the lights, adding a Southwest flair to the diner. Raymond's specialities are brisket, lean and tender, and sausage, a combination of pork and beef. You can also order up pork ribs, turkey, or ham, all served with beans, potato salad, and coleslaw.

Location: 10920 Garland Rd., Dallas
