Laird's Barbeque & Catering, Llano

Don't look for Laird's on the side of the highway or in some strip center. This not-to-be-missed joint is tucked in a neighborhood off TX 16, just south of the bridge crossing the Llano River. But we don't need to worry about giving you directions. Follow the smoke and the smell of some of Llano's best barbecue. If it's lunchtime, follow the pickup trucks of Llano's workmen. They're probably headed to Laird's.

Most days you'll find Kenneth Laird behind the counter of this popular joint, taking orders and carving meat. The former employee of Cooper's now serves up some of Llano's finest to a dining room full of regulars who sit in the small, air conditioned dining room and talk about the comings and goings in town.

We enjoyed excellent sliced beef accompanied by beans and potato salad, all served up by Laird himself. The menu also offers sausage, pork, chicken, and steaks.

Location:1600 Ford Street, Llano
