"Salado Legends" Celebrates 17th Season

The stage at Tablerock's Goodnight Amphitheater is set for a musical memory of life in the Lone Star state at the turn of the 20th century as the curtain rises once again on Salado Legends, which is celebrating its 17th season. Honored by the Library of Congress as one of only four outdoor musical dramas in the nation chosen to depict America's diverse cultural heritage, more than 150 actors, crew and composers band together to bring the past to life for three performances, held July 18, 25, and August 1. Audience members may even find a few faces familiar, as Dallas actor Jerry Biggs, who has appeared in Lonesome Dove and Tender Mercies, and Channel 9 Chief Meteorologist Andy Anderson from Chilton step into cameo roles.

For those who wish to dine before delving into yesterday, a catered meal will be served t 7:15 p.m., one hour before show time. Reservations, running at $8 for either adult or child, are required for the repast.

Tickets for Salado Legends are available for $17 for adults, $5 for children ages 4 - 12 and can be obtained at Fletcher's Antiques, First State Bank and Compass Bank in Salado, ITR in Fort Hood, Compass Bank in Belton and Temple, or through the amphitheater's web site. For groups of 20 or more call 1-254-947-9205 or write to Tablerock, PO Box 312, Salado, TX 76571.

When: July 18, 25 and August 1, 2009

Where: Tablerock's Goodnight Amphitheater at Royal Street in Salado, Texas.

Come on down. We still have two shows left this season. If you enjoy watching the show even half as much as I enjoy being in it, you'll have a ball.
