For fans of Renaissance faires, US 290 will transform into a pathway to the past during the weekends between late February and early April as travelers take a time trip to the 12th century at the first Sherwood Forest Faire. More than 50,000 Rennies are expected to gather between McDade and Paige on 106 wooded acres where Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men would feel at home.
Events
Sightseers will stand in awe as knights battle for supremacy in a jousting match and participants of a human chess match partake in a game of wit and will. Drum circles and dancing gypsies will conjure up images of the Olde Worlde, while a number of musical acts will cast a spell in song over the audience, including three-time
Grammy nominated recording artist David Arkenstone and a familiar face to Rennies, Marc Gunn.
Children’s Activities: Both the young and the young at heart will enjoy the Once Upon A Time area, where storytellers weave wondrous tales at the Queen’s Royal Throne, animated actors entertain at The Faerie Forest Stage and The Puppet Theatre, and Texas tots can nibble on Wee Folks food.
Weddings: Renaissance romantics can pledge their love in a wedding, vow renewal or handfasting at either The Circle of the Seven Sisters or Maid Marian’s Chapel. Two wedding packages are available.
Shopping: Be sure to browse among the booths at Sherwood’s Marketplace for a medieval-influenced memory. More than 50 artisans will offer an array of eye-catching items ranging from jewelry, swords and leatherwork to pottery and period clothing.
When: weekends from February 27 – April 4, 2010
Where: Between McDade and Paige.

This is very much a first year event. With all the management do as I say, not as I do, example: stated construction rule vs what the owners built. Not even close to how George Coulam started. These owners do not want to share. The OWNERS never stated they had no Mass Gathering Permit. Permit obtained 30 days from opening. That is leveling with all. To the owners tell the TRUTH! Please stop saying our first year will equal a 10 year event, this is a lie or unfulfilled dream. Much more to come RenFacts.com.
