Paws for Mardi Gras, Georgetown, TX, March 26, 2011
Mardi Gras may be over by March 26th, but the residents of Georgetown, Texas continue to laissez les bon temps rouler for the sake of Fidos and felines at the 3rd annual Paws for Mardi Gras event.
Benefiting the Georgetown Animal Shelter, dog devotees and their canine companions are invited to don costumes and gather at the gazebo in San Gabriel Park for a blessing of their barking buddies before the start of a dog walk along the hike and bike trail.
After promenading along the scenic path, Spots can showcase their tail-wagging talents in a variety of competitions. Prizes will be awarded to our four-pawed pals in the following categories:
Best dog-person look-alike
Best dog costume
Best dog singer
Best dog trick
Registered entrants get a Paws for Mardi Gras T-shirt, a bandana for their dog and Mardi Gras beads. Participants can register online or in person at the Georgetown Animal Shelter, located at 110 W.L. Walden Drive.
