Beat the triple digit heat this summer with the sounds of cool jazz riffs at Houston’s 22nd annual ode to an American-made musical style.

Sponsored by Jazz Education Inc, a non-profit that has nurtured the passion for the genre in the hearts and souls of the next generation since its founding in 1970, the event will feature a musical menagerie of guest artists from around the globe as well as regional and local artists to represent Texas talent.

The lineup of performers scheduled to appear this year include Roy Ayers, who was instrumental in the creation of jazz-funk; Hiroshima, an iconic band which began in the 1970′s and whose smooth jazz/ jazz fusion style was featured in the silver screen hit Star Trek 5: The Final Frontier; and Rachelle Ferrell, a contemporary jazz artist who performed back up for such greats as Patti LaBelle, Lou Rawls and George Duke before embarking on a successful solo career.

The event will also feature a showdown of sound as members of the Rebirth Brass Band from Louisiana and Texas Brass Band share the stage.

When: August 4 – 5, 2012

Where: Bayou Music Center at 520 Texas Avenue in Houston

I would like to come to the 2013
Houstan Int’l Jazz Festival. Are their plans in the making? If so, can I be put on a mailing list or can you send me a site to go to for advance tickets?

    Thank you so much.
