A showcase for hits from Hollywood’s golden era when it opened its doors in 1930, films’ flicking images faded into history for El Paso’s The Plaza Theatre in the late 1970’s. ¬†Although the majestic movie palace was bequeathed a second life as a performing arts center in 2006, each year cinema buffs can celebrate the theatre’s past as the magic that movies can bring is projected on to the imagination of attendees during the Plaza Classic Film Festival.

Dubbed the world’s largest classic film festival, landmark movies live again on the big screen during 10 days filled not only with screenings, but also by visits from some of the stars who helped to make their movies masterpieces. This year film fans will flock to see Tippi Hedren, who will introduce two Hickcock classics– The Birds and Marnie; Academy Award winner Eva Marie Saint, who will offer behind the scenes tidbits from the sets of Alfred Hichcock’s North By Northwest and Elia Kazan’s On the Waterfront; Oscar-nominated actress Mary Badham, who touched a collective chord in the hearts of every cinema buff as Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird; and movie icon Al Pacino, who will entertain an audience with tales of his career in Al Pacino: One Night Only.

From silent movies to sci-fi, the festival offers something for every cinephile. Following are just a few of the vintage visions that will ‘reel’ in viewers:
