A tiny Texas town with a big heart, the citizens of Anderson invite visitors to enjoy an afternoon in the presence of the past during the Stagecoach Days celebration.
The wheels of a faithfully replicated 1850s Concord stagecoach will travel down memory lane on a trip which takes passengers past the town’s historic Grimes County courthouse and back to the Fanthorp Inn State Historical Site, where staff members and volunteers in period attire offer insight into 19th century life in the 18-room dogtrot home which once welcomed the likes of Sam Houston, Zachary Taylor and, according to local lore, Generals Stonewall Jackson, Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant.
Nostalgic numbers played by the Star of Texas Dulcimers and Roseville Fair Old Time String Band will provide the soundtrack for the sentimental occasion.
When: August 11, 2012 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
