The Lone Star Stampede in Conroe


Wrangle the kids in the car on Memorial Day weekend and head to the city of Conroe for a three-day tribute to a tied and true Texas tradition, the rodeo. The seats at the Lone Star Expo Center will be a sea of Stetsons as spectators get set to watch more than 2,500 cowboys compete in a round up of rodeo events from team roping to barrel racing.

Competitions

• Featuring the perfect ingredients for a good time, over 100 teams will vie to be Kings of the 'cue in the BBQ Cook-Off.

Attractions

• From tilt-a-whirls to merry-go-rounds, both the young and the young at heart will enjoy the carnival.

• Move your feet to the beat of the three bands that take to the Houston Freightline Stage each night.

• Peruse for purchased among more than 70 vendors stalls.

Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Set for March

The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, called the world's largest livestock show, is set for March 3-22, 2009 this year (sometimes the rodeo begins in late February) although the event's World Championship Bar-B-Que Contest is scheduled for Feb. 26-28.

Along with the barbecue cookoff, a carnival, parade and wine competition, the event includes many headliners in the music world. Scheduled concerts include:

March 6: Gladys Knight & Solange
March 7: Trace Adkins
March 8: Jonas Brothers
March 9: Lady Antebellum

San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Continues

The western fun continues this weekend at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The event, which continues until Feb. 22, 2009, features nightly rodeos and performances by top entertainers.

Coming up:

Rodeo Austin Announces Entertainment Lineup

Preparations are underway for Rodeo Austin, the sixth-largest indoor, regular season ProRodeo in the country. The rodeo has announced its lineup of performers for the event which is scheduled for March 13-28, 2009:
