Attractions

Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom. This site contains personal effects of Gen. Douglas MacArthur. Also here are rooms that replicate an English castle room, an Independence Hall meeting room, and ancient Egypt. The Academy is part of Howard Payne University. Located at 1320 Austin Ave.

Lake Brownwood State Park. This 538-acre park offers boating, hiking, and swimming. Cabins and shelters are available, as are opportunities for nature study. Located 16 mi northwest on Rte. 279, then 6 mi east on Park Rd. 1.
