Located 16 miles south of Dilley, Cotulla [how to pronounce] has been home to several notable residents including Lyndon Baines Johnson and short story author William Sidney Porter, better known as O. Henry.

The town of just under 5,000 residents is a center for the area's cattle and sheep ranching industries; it is also a popular stop for many Winter Texans.

Attractions

Brush Country Museum. This museum, housed in the school where Lyndon Baines Johnson once taught,  features local history exhibits. Open Tuesday to Friday; free. Call Chamber of Commerce for information at (830) 879-2326. Location: 112 North Front Street
