Southfork Ranch Event and Conference Center J.R. may be gone and "Dallas" may be off the television airwaves, but the Ewing presence lives on at Southfork Ranch. Originally built as a residence and quarter horse training ranch, the sprawling white mansion was used for filming the exterior shots for the long running television series. Today visitors can board a tram to reach the Ewing Mansion for a tour of the house and to see the Lincoln Continental used on the show. The "Dallas Legends" exhibit recalls famous moments on the show with television clips, star interviews, and the gun that shot J.R. In the evenings, guests can take part in the chuckwagon dinner program with transportation aboard haywagons to authentically outfitted chuckwagons for a Western meal. After dinner, visitors are entertained with singing cowboys and fiddlers, cowboy poetry, and tall tales.
