Rusk, Texas Travel Guide

This East Texas city was named for Thomas Jefferson Rusk, one of the signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence. The community is a gateway to the east Texas piney woods. It is also a popular stop because of the railroad excursion from this depot.

Attractions:

Jim Hogg State Historical Park. Facilities here include a picnic area, a small history museum, and forest. From Rusk, 2 mi northeast off U.S. 84.

Rusk-Palestine State Park. Tennis, camping, and picnicking are available in this 100-acre park in the piney woods.
