Fort Bliss Museum, El Paso Fort Bliss was built in 1848 for the purpose of protecting the area from Indian attacks and to establish U.S. authority in this remote region after the Mexican War. The Fort became headquarters for the Southwestern troops
of the Confederacy during the Civil War. Today, the Fort Bliss Museum
tells the story of its history through displays of uniforms, tools, and
weapons. While at the Fort, we also visited the US Air Defense Artillery Museum which tracks the history of the U.S. air defense systems. |
