Worldwide Leap Year Festival
Anthony, Texas

Every four years, the city of Anthony, Texas, the "Leap Year Capital of the World," celebrates February 29 with the Worldwide Leap Year Festival.

When: every four years on the days surrounding February 29 [Feb. 28, 2008-March 2, 2008]

Where: Municipal Park, Anthony, Texas/NM

Since 1988, the small town of Anthony, located outside El Paso, has celebrated Leap Year every four years with a special multi-day festival.

Why Anthony? Well, because it's the hometown of the World Wide Leap Year Birthday Club, of course, Members from around the world with a February 29 birthday join together in the club but, for the festival, welcome travelers to this West Texas town for several days of live music, barbecue dinners, wine tasting, crafts shows, and more. The Leap Year birthday participants, the "Twenty Niners," share a big birthday cake and everyone enjoys a Worldwide Leap Year Day Parade downtown.
