Urban Music Festival
When: early April Where: Auditorium Shores
at 950 W. Riverside Drive in Austin Taking the Live Music Capital of the World by storm
in its 2006 debut, the Urban Music Festival offers both an aural
homage to African-American music legends and a launching pad for
future funk, hip hop and R&B chart-toppers. Held in conjunction
with the Texas Relays Weekend, hop aboard the Capital Metro bus
for a trip to Auditorium Shores on Town Lake and enjoy a soiree with soul. Shopping and Food: A stroll
past the concession booths is an epicurean odyssey featuring tempting
Tex-Mex cuisine, New Orleans-style po' boys, southern-fried catfish
and the all-American classic combo, hamburgers and french fries.
After satisfying your appetite, feast your eyes on the artwork,
jewelry, garments, and accessories for sell in the Urban Marketplace.
For a unique souvenir of the day, pose for a sketch from a caricaturist
or capture your smile for posterity in a photo booth. Children's activities: This family-friendly event provides entertainment for every age
group. Little ones can bop to the beat of children's tunes at KidCiti,
an interactive area which will also feature art projects and games
and offers a take-home tote containing snacks to nourish the body
and music and art supplies to nourish the spirit. For more information: |
