June is a peak month for festivals, one last chance to enjoy the summer holidays before the real heat of the season sets in.

Weekends in June: Central Texas Renaissance Faire, Dale. Knaves and noblemen roam the grounds of this Renaissance event which features period games, food, and music.

Shrimporee, Aransas Pass. Celebrate the shrimp for which the Coastal Bend is known with this event which includes a shrimp-eating contest, a parade, live music, carnival and lots of shrimp.

Texas Scottish Festival & Highland Games, Arlington. From Scottish folk music to Scottish dogs to Highland dances, this event celebrates all things Scottish.

Texas Blueberry Festival, Nacogdoches

Tomato Fest, Jacksonville. The tomato takes center stage at this festival featuring tomato peeling contests, a farmers' market, street dance, and more.

Fort Griffin Fandangle, Albany. Running over 70 years, this outdoor musical features an Old West atmosphere.
