Celebrating spring as well as the summer that's just around the corner, May is a top festival month in Texas.

Continuing through May 4, 2008: Buc Days, Corpus Christi. Now in its 70th year, this event includes parades, carnivals, a rodeo, barbecue cookoff, live music, a 5K run, and spectacular fireworks on the bay.

Continuing through May 26, 2008: Scarborough Faire® Renaissance Faire, Waxahachie, Waxahachie. Step back to the 16th century at this popular Ren festival including jousting, period music, crafts, falconry and more.

May 1-4, 2008: Mayfest, Fort Worth

May 2-3, 2008: Cinco de Mayo, numerous cities

May 2-4, 2008: WildFest San Antonio

May 2-4, 2008: 61st Annual Pilgrimage Tour of Homes & Spring Festival, Jefferson. Visit the historic homes of Jefferson and enjoy a parade, Civil War reenactments, crafts, and more.

May 3-4, 2008: Cottonwood Art Festival, Richardson

May 8-10, 2008: Tejano Conjunto Festival, San Antonio.

May 9-11, 2008: Fredericksburg Inter-Tribal Powwow

May 16-17, 2008: Lee County Fair & Rodeo, Giddings

May 16-18, 2008: Wildflower! Arts and Music Festival, Richardson

May 16-18, 2008: Pasadena Strawberry Festival, Pasadena. Now in its 35th year, this fstvial includes a carnival, live music, arts and crafts, and children's activities.

May 17-18, 2008: Houston Highland Games and Celtic Festival

May 22-June 8, 2008: Kerrville Folk Festival, Kerrville. Now in its 37th year, this event drawsover 100 performers on multiple stages.

May 23-25, 2008: National Polka Festival, Ennis. Always held on Memorial Day weekend, this event celebrats the Czech heritage that is strong in Texas.

May 23-26, 2008: Texas State Arts and Crafts Fair, Kerrville. This juried arts and crafts show features the work of over 200 artisans.

May 30, 2008: 77th Old Texas Fiddlers Reunion and Contest, Athens. Held on the courthouse lawn, this longtime event features fiddle music and a street dance.
