As cool weather starts to set in, the state celebrates with two of the country's largest festivals of their kinds: Wurstfest and the Texas Renaissance Festival.

2008 Festival Dates:

Through Nov. 9, 2008: Wurstfest, New Braunfels

Through Nov. 23, 2008: Texas Renaissance Festival, Plantersville (near Houston)

Nov. 1, 2008: Texas Book Festival, Austin. Held on the grounds of the State Capitol, this event was established by First Lady Laura Bush.

Nov. 7-9, 2008: Scottish Clan Gathering and Highland Games, Salado

Nov. 8, 2008: Heritage Syrup Festival, Henderson

Nov. 22, 2008: Brazos Valley Worldfest, Bryan

Nov. 22-Dec. 13, 2008: Nine Flags Festival, Nacogdoches

Nov. 26-Dec. 31: Wonderland of Lights, Marshall

Nov. 28, 2008: Holiday River Parade, San Antonio

Nov. 28, 2008 - Jan. 1, 2009: Hill Country Lighting Trail, Fredericksburg, Johnson City, Burnet, other communities
