Easter Fest and Easter Run/Walk When: March 21 and 22, 2008 (Easter Fest on the River takes place both days, while the Easter Run/Walk is held on March 22nd.) Where: Easter Fest on the River is located at Flat Rock Lake County Park (3840 Riverside Dr.), while runners take their mark for the Easter Run/Walk Classic at Kerrville Schreiner Park (2385 Bandera Hwy). "Here comes Peter Cottontail, Hoppin' down the bunny trail, Hippity hoppin', Easter's on its way" to the Kerr County town of Kerrville, where folks gather Flat Rock Lake County Park each year for two days of good, old-fashioned family fun. Having once been a town that Jimmie Rodgers, the father of country music, called home, music plays a prominent role in all Kerrville celebrations, and at this annual ode to Easter live acts will make your feet move to the beat during a street dance which kicks off the festivities. The following day, weekend chefs battle to become king of the grill during the chili and BBQ classic cook-off while neighborhood children enjoy rides and games before filling their baskets with the rainbow-colored eggs they find during the Easter egg hunt. Quick like a bunny, the participants of the Easter Run/Walk Classic will trot among the live oaks and Spanish oaks that beautify Kerrville Schreiner Park. Hikers gather at the starting line for a brisk, two-mile morning constitutional, passing by squirrels that scamper along the path and sportsmen baiting their hooks for the first catch of the day on the waters of the Guadalupe River. An hour later, it's the runners turn to traverse through the park in a 5K run. For more information: • visit www.kerrvilletexascvb.com
