Kerrville Wine and Music Festival
Kerrville, Texas

When: late August/early September

Where: Quiet Valley Ranch, located between Kerrville and Medina.

An intimate version of Kerrville's popular Folk Music Festival, this three-day Hill Country happening, lovingly referred to as "Little Folk," offers a toast to acoustic Americana artistry with Texas-produced spirits each Labor Day weekend.

Known as the birthplace of "the father of country music," the late, great Jimmie Rodgers, Kerrville welcomes over two dozen tunesmiths. Musicians continue the singer/songwriter's legacy on stage for a series of two two-hour afternoon performances and three six-hour evening concerts featuring both original compositions and vintage tunes that have aged as well as the wine that is poured during the festival's accompanying wine seminar.

Set up in the Kennedy Outdoor Theater, Lone Star wineries offer a sip of the grape in for a nominal fee, while at the Threadgill Theater wine connoisseurs can drink in knowledge of Texas wine and the state's wine industry.

While festival spectators stroll through Crafts Village in search of a souvenir, promising folk performers attend the songwriter's guitar workshop. Their education continues after hours as attendees settle in the 20-acre camp grounds and pass on their music wisdom in song circles and impromptu jam sessions.
