Pasadena Strawberry Festival
Pasadena, Texas
The city of Pasadena, Texas may have relinquished
its title as the "Strawberry Capital of The World," but
the residents of the Lone Star state's 15th largest city still pay
loving tribute to their favorite fruit with a fete that's a sweet
treat for the entire family.
When: mid to late May
Where: Pasadena
Fairgrounds, Fairmont Parkway at Red Bluff
Activities and Events:
Be a part of history at the official cake cutting of the world's
largest strawberry shortcake, a tasty way to mark the start of the
festival. During the next three days, over 45,000 attendees cheer
on participants of the mud volleyball tournament, washer pitching
contest and the BBQ Cookoff, and clap to the beat of country, rock
and Tejano tunes performed by artists on the International Main
Stage. Festival-goers can get an overview of the carnival rides
from the Ferris wheel, or opt for a bird's eye view of all the attractions
on a helicopter ride.
Children's activities: Cavorting clowns
and free games will bring a smile to the faces of tiny Texas tykes
inside the Strawberry Fields Children's Pavilion, where little ones
can love the llamas, goats and baby bunnies at the petting zoo,
promenade around a ring on a pony ride and dance to ditties played
by Radio Disney.
