Texas SandFest
Port Aransas, Texas

Where: Port Aransas Beach, Mustang Island

When: late March/early April

Some of childhood's fondest memories are formed with sand, whether it's "burying" a sibling beneath the golden grains or building a fairytale sandcastle with the help of a dime store bucket and spade.

Relive those carefree days on Mustang Island as over 20 modern day Michelangelo's from around the globe mold masterpieces on the beach for an audience of over 100,000 sun worshippers.

If watching the competitors at work inspires your own inner artist, join in on one of the free sand sculpting lessons or enter your photographic image of the day's fun in the photo contest.

A variety of vendors selling gulf coast mementos line the beach, and three tents showcase musical acts, a fashion show and other family-friendly fun.
