Fredericksburg Food and Wine Fest

Held in late October, this event, held on Market Square, promotes Texas food and wines. The fun starts at noon and continues until 7 p.m. with wine tastings, live music, and even the "grape toss" using purple water balloons.

You can taste the harvest of some of Texas's finest wineries and vineyards as well as over 40 specialty vendors selling everything from Texas cheeses to barbecue sauce to fudge.

Whenever you visit, you'll find several outstanding wineries within the Fredericksburg area . Wine aficionados should pick up a copy of the "Texas Hill Country Wine Trail" brochure, available from the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau or on-line at www.texaswinetrail.com.

The trail showcases wineries throughout the region.

October is also Texas Wine Month, the perfect excuse to explore the wineries of the Fredericksburg region and the surrounding Hill Country.
