The Bishop's Palace, Galveston

From the outside, the Bishop's Palace looks like a castle with its
red granite walls, and the inside does not disappoint the visitor. The fireplaces and mantels for this formerly private home were collected from all corners of the world. The castle-like structure is constructed of Texas granite, white limestone and red sandstone and features elaborate woodwork.

We took the guided tour and learned that the house was built in 1886 and was chosen by the American Institute of Architecture as one of the 100 outstanding buildings in the United States.

Location: 1402 Broadway
