Founded in 1915 on the ranch of George Washington West, the town of George West developed as an important cattle town. Today the community, located near Three Rivers, is a favorite with hunters thanks to its large whitetailed deer population.

Attractions

Buck West House. This historic house (photo above) was once the home to a nephew of George Washington West; today it houses the city's Chamber of Commerce office. Located at 400 N. Nueces.

Festivals and Special Events

NOVEMBER: George West Storyfest. From John Henry Faulk to "Kinky" Friedman, the Lone Star state has given birth to a number of famous fable of Designated the "storytelling capital of Texas," the community of George West passes on the tradition of tall tale-telling with an annual fable-themed festival.
