Lake Buchanan

Contained by one of the largest multiple-arch dams in the world, this lake covers 23,000 acres and spanning more than 30 miles.

For a good look at the multiple-arch dam, walk out on the observation site, a concrete walkway built over part of the dam and stop by the Chamber office for brochures and maps. (You'll find fish food...which generally becomes duck food...for sale at the chamber office, too.)

Spend a few minutes in the adjacent museum that chronicles life in this area in 1937, the construction of the dam, and wildlife in the lake region.

Location: From Burnet, the lake is located 3 miles west on TX 29.
