Kingsville Special Events & Festivals, Fall & Winter

Fall Events

Fall marks on the most popular events at the ranch: the Ranch Hand Breakfast. Scheduled for the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the happening draws over 7,000 visitors who enjoy a real ranch breakfast during this annual event. Fall is a peak time for a Kingsville visit. Hunters from around the state come to test their luck and skill, and fishing in nearby Baffin Bay yields trophy catches.

Fall also marks the time for several annual Kingsville festivals. In early October, you'll find Fiesta de Colores, which celebrates homemade arts and crafts at the JK Northway Exposition Center. The event, always scheduled for the first weekend in October, includes food and music.

In November you can learn more about this region at the annual South Texas Wildlife and Birding Festival, now in its seventh year. At this four-day event, birds and butterflies as well as plants and other wildlife are king. You can take part in birding tours as well as a nighttime spotlight tour. Free-flying raptors are showcased in the “Last Chance Forever” shows presented daily. Special youth-oriented activities and crafts are available as well as a marketplace selling birding and nature items. Everyone is given the opportunity to learn more about South Texas creatures at seminars as well as aboard guided tours which are limited to 10 persons per van.

Winter Festivals

In November, La Posada de Kingsville heralds the start of the Christmas season continuing through December. The fun starts with the Ranch Hand Breakfast, where visitors can enjoy genuine camp cooking at the King Ranch along with demonstrations of team penning and other ranch activities. The day's celebrations include the Historic Downtown Festival with arts and crafts and the Brush Country Antique Show and Sale. Later in the month and into December, Kingsville lights up with a Christmas Tree Forest, a children's winter wonderland, and a parade of lights.

From late November through early January. Kingsville glows with Texas Lights including a Christmas Tree Forest, a children's winter wonderland, and a parade of lights.
