La Grange, Texas Area Parks

Fayette Power Project Lake and Parks. Used as a cooling pond for the electric generating plant, this lake provides good bass fishing. Location: From La Grange, 10 miles east via Rte. 159 at the jct. Rte. 71.

Oak Thicket Park. This sixty-five-acre park offers plenty of family-oriented activities: a playground, fishing piers, and a good swimming area on Lake Fayette. Camping is available, as well as eight cabins. Location: From La Grange travel east on TX 159 for about 7 miles. Turn right at the sign for Fayette County Lake.

Park Prairie Park. Park Prairie is another favorite with families, thanks to volleyball courts, plenty of picnic space, tent camping, and even some pelicans and gulls along the shores of Lake Fayette. Hikers can walk to Oak Ticket Park on a 3-mile trail. Other facilities include restrooms, showers, a group facility, and a boat ramp. Location: From La Grange, travel 10 miles east on TX 159 to the entrance of the park.

White Rock Park. This park was developed by the LCRA but is operated by the City of La Grange. Park entrance is on the right. This day-use park includes restrooms, hike/bike trails, picnic facilities, and a canoe launch. Location: On the east bank of the Colorado River, just south of La Grange. From La Grange, take US 77 (Jefferson Street) south to Elbin Road and continue about 3/4 mile to Mode Lane (CR 134). Take a right on Mode Lane and travel about 1/4 mile to this park.
