Nuevo Laredo Restaurants

El Dorado (formerly the Cadillac Bar). For some travelers, the El Dorado is reason enough to come to Nuevo Laredo. The favorite watering hole for many South Texans, it's the home of the Ramos Gin Fizz, a concoction of gin, lemon juice, and powdered sugar. The menu includes frog legs and red snapper. Located at Calle Belden and Avenida Ocampo, about two blocks from Nuevo Mercado.

Victoria 30-20. This remodeled home-turned-restaurant is now adorned with thick, aqua-tinted windows, a pastel interior, and a forest of plants. Sip a beverage from a hand-blown glass and dine in air-conditioned comfort in one of Nuevo Laredo's most beautiful restaurants, specializing in Tex-Mex favorites such as cabrito (barbecued goat). Located on Calle Victoria, near Nuevo Mercado.

La Principal. Just a few blocks beyond the mercado, this restaurant is a favorite with Nuevo Laredo residents. It specializes in cabrito, with Mexican dishes such as mollejas (sweetbreads) and sesos (brains) served with borracho beans. Watch the chefs smoke the cabrito in the glassed-in kitchen, then enjoy the diner atmosphere of this authentic Mexican restaurant. Located at Avenida Guerrero 624.
