My favorite Texas discovery...
My favorite Texas discovery was the Alamo; so much seen in movies and read in novels was not the actual encounters. What a discovery also to find the three Mississippians who died in /at the Alamo and one has a memorial/in the town of my husband: Holly Springs, Mississippi. The deceased was from Holly Springs, Ms.

Bandera's Pico #13
My favorite Texas find is a gas station in Bandera, Texas. It is Pico #13, 607 Main St., Bandera Texas 78003. They have hamburgers to die for and chimichangas that can't be beat and lots of other goodies. I just wish they had hand cut french fries and then it would be the next thing to heaven! I hope the owners have not or will not sell this gas station/eatery. It has been a while since I was down that way, but I have been tempted to drive the 300 miles for a burger,

Psycha-deli, South Padre Island
My favorite hidden gem is on South Padre Island: The psycha deli. From the moment you step in you are welcomed not only with a big hello but with the wafting smell of homemade bread and fresh coffee. The sandwiches are outstanding, the owner and crew are amazing and the ambiance is true to the name of the deli. Nothing warms the heart like Heart, Def Lepard and Boston playing to a middle aged person. They truly go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Dining on the River Walk
Just went to San Antonio in January and was amazed at all of the good food that I ate, especially at Saltgrass Steakhouse on the River Walk.

Texas Thunderstorms
I discovered Texas during a road trip some years back. One thing you can say I "discovered" is that Texas can get some monster thunder storms! I love thunder storms so I was fascinated.
