Texas Gulf Coast Region
Regional Highlights:
For travelers looking for fun in the sun, the Texas Gulf Coast offers a variety of options. Stretching from the Louisiana border to the Mexican border, the coastline is dotted with both high-rise cities filled with world class museums and attracitons and small communities whose assets include beach activities and ecotourism fun. This region encompasses the Gulf Coast, which stretches from the Sabine River to the US-Mexico border in Brownsville. On the northern reaches lies the city of Houston, filled with cultural events, family attractions, and sports events. A short drive from Houston, Galveston is a resort community located on an island and connected to the mainland by bridge. Further east, the communities of Beaumont and Baytown remember Texas's oil heritage. From Brownsville to Houston is just
under 300 miles of Gulf Coast. Timeshare
rentals freckle the entire area so that every destination in
the region is at your fingertips. No matter where your specific
destination is, timeshares
can get you there in a cost effective fashion. Midway down the Texas coast lies Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend, populated by the communities of Port Aransas, Rockport, Kingsville, Aransas Pass, and more. The region is a favorite with birders from around the world as well as windsurfers, who come to the area for its near constant breezes and protected sea conditions thanks to the barrier island, Padre. Continuing south, you'll find the southernmost
reaches of Texas: South
Padre Island, Port
Isabel and Brownsville
. (For neighboring communities in the Rio Grande Valley, see the
South Texas Plains region.) |
