Round Top, Texas Travel Guide Region: Prairies and Lakes Located just over 100 miles east of San Antonio, Round Top proclaims itself "the smallest incorporated town in the Lone Star State." It's even prouder of its historic bed and breakfast inns, antiques shops, two excellent historic restorations, and a renowned institute that attracts some of the best musical talent from around the world. All tucked in a picturesque setting overflowing with small town charm and friendliness. Round Top is located east of San Antonio, west of Houston. From San Antonio, follow I-10 east to Schulenburg and the interstection of US 77. Turn north on US 77 to La Grange, then take TX 159 north to Round Top. An alternate route that will take you through the Lost Pines of Bastrop is to follow I-35 north to San Marcos than take TX 21 through Bastrop and to the intersection of US 290. At this highway, turn east and continue to the intersection of TX 237 and turn south to Round Top. Attractions
Round Top Restaurants Round Top Area Accommodations If you plan a visit to Round Top during Antiques Week, book accommodations months in advance. Accommodations can be very hard to come by for these prime weekends. You’ll find a lodging request form on the Round Top Area Chamber website, www.roundtop.org; they’ll send your lodging request to member accommodations to check for availability. Festivals and Special Events October and April Antiques Week While Round Tip may be petite in terms of population, this community packs a wallup when it comes to drawing vacationers, especially during “Antiques Week,” traditionally scheduled for the first full weekend in April (although this can vary with the timing of Easter) and October. During Antiques Week, about 35 antiques shows dot the countryside featuring thousands of vendors and tens of thousands of shoppers from across the country.
