Klump's Cafe, Round Top

Like most businesses and homes in tiny Round Top, Klump's is located in a historic building, an 1800s tinsmith shop that was later converted to a country store. Today it's a country cafe owned and operated by the Klump family. Ron and Liz do the cooking, daughter Kristina waits tables, son Russell helps with the barbecue, and Edith "Granny" Klump runs the cash register.

The Klumps have been smokin' in Round Top for two decades, first selling barbecue to oil field workers from a downtown grocery store. In 1991 they moved their pit to this restaurant.

Today the family fires up the pits and produces brisket, pork, chicken, pork spare ribs, and sausage with sides of potato salad, coleslaw, and pinto beans. Everything on the menu is homemade. You'll also find a good burger and steak here plus chicken fried, fried chicken, and fish.

Location: TX 237 and Mill Street (downtown)

Telephone: (979) 249-5696
