Alamo Street Restaurant and Theatre, San Antonio

The building which houses the Alamo Street Theatre was built in 1912 and served as a Methodist church until 1968. In 1976, the building was bought by Bill and Marcie Larsen who converted the lower level into a restaurant and put a stage in the former chapel. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Most evenings, two shows are playing. The lower “Green Room Dinner Theatre” presents original mysteries, dramas or comedies while patrons enjoy a delicious buffet dinner. The upper theater hosts more traditional productions.

If you're attending a show at the Alamo Street Theater and think that you see the figure of a young boy making mischief around the theater's kitchen, don't worry it's just Eddie, one of many resident ghosts that are seen from time to time in the building. Eddie died of polio, but still loves to cause trouble in the kitchen. The theater puts on a show several times a year called "In The Company of Ghosts," based on stories about Eddie and the building's other ghosts.

Reservations are required and shows can change without prior notice.

Location: 1150 South Alamo Street, San Antonio
