Arneson River Theater, San Antonio

This unique theater is a top tourist attraction especially during the summer months. The open-air venue was erected in 1939, designed by River Walk architect Robert Hugman and built by the WPA.

When you are on the River Walk, have a seat on the grass-covered steps and enjoy a look at the stage across the river. In this open-air format, the river, not a curtain, separates performers from the audience.

Some of San Antonio's top events take place here, including Fiesta Noche del Rio, a summer show that has been in operation nearly four decades

Location: La Villita, downtown
